About Mims Innovations
Mims Innovations, Inc. was founded in 2006 by entrepreneur and information technology executive Jeffrey M. Mims
and Fortune 500 senior executive J. Michael Mims to explore new ventures in internet business.
In our five year history Mims Innovations has developed a sophisticated line of internet marketing software,
built and managed over forty proprietary web properties, and successfully worked with a variety of consulting clients in the areas
of application architecture and development, IT security & compliance, cloud computing, web development, technical project management,
business/management consulting, and internet marketing.
In 2010 Mims Innovations retired the Mims Internet Marketing Services division as well as personal business coaching services
in order to focus efforts on software and technical services.
Today our consulting business is limited to Cloud Computing Consulting, IT project management, IT security, and software/web architecture and development. We work
with customers of all sizes from across the United States, including large global corporations, small companies, hospitals, and government agencies.
Jeffrey M. Mims
Jeff, the Executive Director and Founder of Mims Innovations is an experienced executive with well-rounded skills in management, sales, marketing, technology, communications, accounting, finance, human resources, and legal matters. He has worked successfully with many diverse organizations in terms of size and culture, across numerous industries. Additionally he has experience with healthcare, biotechnology, manufacturing, logistics, energy, high-tech, telecommunications, publishing, and services industries.
While he has a considerable technical background in software development and has been working with web technologies since their inception in the early 1990s, he is a business man first and foremost. He has detailed knowledge of business operations, including building companies from scratch, growing businesses, and navigating the intricate processes and expansive budgets of the Fortune 500. From managing personnel and budgets to managing projects, he employs a wealth of business knowledge and maintains the ability to adapt and learn in changing environments. Jeff feels his breadth of business experience affords him a better perspective of even narrowly scoped projects and industries.
Jeff has worked for several technology services companies as a senior software engineer, program/project manager, department manager, technical director, and senior executive. He also spent several years working as consultant on software/web development projects, contracting through various agencies. In 1999, Jeff left the contract agencies and founded Mavenspire, Inc. He grew the company from nothing to millions in annual sales by 2005. In 2006 Jeff completed his divesture of majority ownership in Mavenspire, and founded Mims Innovations, Inc. in the same year.
Jeff received his Bachelor of Science degree from Towson University in Towson Maryland, and holds numerous professional certifications in the fields of technology, business, fitness, and martial arts.
J. Michael Mims, CPA, PHR
Co-founder and former Mims Innovations COO J. Michael Mims brought a multi-faceted background with over thirty years of experience as a senior executive in large industry, including the Fortune 500. He spent twenty years as Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Vice President of Internal Auditing and Consulting at Crown Central Petroleum Corporation. He built a strategic Human Resources function at Crown for over 2900 employees, reprioritizing HR functions while focusing on retaining employees in difficult times and delivering comprehensive benefit programs to thousands of employees. His leadership saved the company millions of dollars. He also provided fiduciary responsibility for
over $130 million in pension assets, with top 25% performance over a ten year period.
Prior to Crown, Mike spent thirteen years as a Senior Audit Manager at Ernst & Young, one of today's "Big Four" accounting firms.
He began performing management and human resources consulting services independently in 2003, and co-founded Mims Innovations in 2006. Mike also dedicated many years
in support of the American Heart Association as a volunteer. He served as a member of the National Board of Directors as well as Chairman of the Board, Treasurer, and Committee Chairman for the Maryland Affiliate.
He won numerous awards for his service to the American Heart Association. Mike also served on the Board of Directors for the Loyola College Alumni Association and the Exchange Club of Baltimore.
Mike is certified as a Professional in Human Resources, and is a Certified Public Accountant and member of the AICPA and MACPA. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola College in Baltimore Maryland.
Mike passed away in 2010 at the age of 62.
